School Camping (Warriuka)

Warriuka is a school adventure camping program operated by Scripture Union WA. Warriuka offers a complete camping package, which is run in partnership between school teachers and Warriuka staff. With the input of teachers we will design a camp program that will suit their needs and goals, activities, budget and time frame.

Warriuka has worked with over 100 government and independent schools around Western Australia and challenges over 800 students annually. We provide a quality outdoor experience that will challenge students to develop skills in leadership, cooperation, team work, decision making and initiative while having fun and living the adventure outside.

Established in 1987 Warriuka began as a camping program based on rafting (both flat and white water varieties), and so was named after an Aboriginal word for raft or boat.

The program has diversified to include the current range of activities, which include abseiling, caving, bush-walking and bush-craft, canoeing, white and flat water rafting, hiking, low ropes course and initiative games.

Why use Warriuka for your camp?

Partnership – Warriuka staff and school staff work together to plan and implement all aspects of the camp program including risk management, student outcomes, day and evening activities, catering and accommodation.
Relational – Warriuka staff are intential about building meaningful relationships with your staff and students
Experience – Warriuka have been operating successfully for 25 years working exclusively with school groups.  Our field staff have nationally recognised outdoor recreation qualifications and our volunteers are carefully selected to ensure they are appropriate for the activities we offer.
Adventure activities – challenge your students through abseiling, canoeing, hiking, caving, low ropes course  and adventure games, flat water rafting and white water rafting.
Exploring the environment – using the leave no trace principals your students will experience and respect the beauty that WA has to offer.
Action/reflection learning – all our programs have a strong emphasis on learning through adventure activities in a small group setting. This style is ideal for values education, self-management skills and interpersonal skills.
Personal spiritual development – Warriuka camps are designed to appropriately assist students to explore faith, personal growth and well being. Our experience is that students value the opportunity to talk about beliefs and values in the safe, non judgemental environment we create.

Our professional staff and volunteers are trained with dealing with children. They all have approved national Working With Children Checks. Our focus is to ensure that students feel safe in a fun non-threatening environment.

Go outside and grow inside with Warriuka! Have a fun rewarding experience, that you and your students will never forget!
