REEL CHANGE

Reel Change uses visual media to engage children and young adults with real stories.  Stories of everyday people that we can relate to.  Stories about things that we can expect to come across in our lives such as grief, mental health, addiction, relationship struggles, forgiveness and a lot of other issues that we commonly face.

The videos so far feature a wide range of Australians from all walks of life: missionaries, musicians, healthcare workers, students, mums and corporate workers.  All from completely different backgrounds with totally different stories.

The films are 10-15 minutes with small group study materials accompanying each different film.  Schools will be given an opportunity to browse through short clips of each film with information about issues/story that each film contains so that they are able to pick the stories that will best benefit their students to hear.  Once a school has booked we will then liaise with local Youth Pastors and the Chaplain so that during the incursion students can be connected with their local churches and youth programs.  A member of SU as well as the volunteers will come to the school to facilitate the sessions which include a viewing of 2-3 of the films and small group time.

There are other ways this program could potentially be run: as a weekly program for CE classes, in Youth Groups, Bible studies, on camps and for health focus days in schools.

“We don’t need to write a play or find a story in our minds because God has already written all of these amazing stories into the lives of Australians all around us.  He is telling stories of his goodness and grace, his intervention and workings in our lives all the time – all we want to do is share these, already written, stories of hope and grace and of a good, good Father.”
